Nobility crown BarricaB., 1639, tom. del gasc. barrique fd. 1476, procedente de una base "Barrica, cuyo origen exacto -quizá galo- se desconoce, y de cuya raíz procede asimismo barril; barriga es la forma autóctona que tomó la misma palabra en castellano. Apellido vizcaíno. Son sus armas: De oro, con un árbol de sinople, y dos lobos de sable atravesados al tronco. Tuvo este apellido su casa solar en Vizcaya. Muchos linajes de este apellido probaron su nobleza en las Órdenes de Santiago, Calatrava, Alcántara, Montesa, (corporaciones nacidas para luchar contra los moros, cooperando a la Reconquista, y asegurar el orden, protegiendo a los peregrinos y desvalidos), Carlos III y San Juan de Jerusalén (es una orden religiosa militar fundada en el siglo XI); numerosas veces en las Reales Chancillería de Valladolid y Granada, en la Real Compañía de Guardias Marinas y en la Real Audiencia de Oviedo. Los de Vizcaya traen por armas: De oro, con un árbol de sinople, y dos lobos de sable atravesados al tronco. Otros traen: Mantelado: primero, en oro, tres fajas de azur; segundo, en azur, media luna de plata y azur, y el mantel de plata, con un lobo de sable, atravesado al pie del tronco. Bordura general de gules con ocho roeles de oro. Otros: Cuartelado: primero y cuarto, jaquelados de oro y de gules, segundo y tercero, en plata, un árbol de sinople con un lobo de sable, atravesado al pie del tronco. ...
