Antica ed illustre famiglia, originaria del Centro Italia, detta Bedin o Bedini, la quale, agli albori del XVI secolo, di divise in tre distinti rami: uno pose dimora nella zona di Lucca - Sarzana, un altro nella zona di Bologna - Modena e, infine, uno nella zona dei castelli di Ancona (Ostra). La famiglia, tuttavia, originariamente non possedeva l'attuale cognominizzazione, assunta, solamente, a fasi alterne, a partire dalle fine del XVII secolo. Il cognome Bedini, poi Bedin, infatti, fu assunto a partire dai discendenti di Bernardino Guidi, in forma patronimica, mediante la contrazione del nome di costui, ossia Be(rnar)dino. La famiglia, dunque, precedentemente, veniva identificata come Guidi, o Guidini, ed il di lei capostipite, pertanto, può esser identificato in quel Pandolfo Guidi, cittadino di Montenovo, trasferitosi in Corinaldo, e, poi, in Ostra, ove morì, nel 1560.
