Ottenne il titolo del cavalierato ereditario per ambo i sessi con decreto del duca di Modena 10 febbraio 1741 nella persona del nobile Giacinto di Antonio, avvocato della Camera ducale, ambasciatore estense in Germania (1725-1734) e a Napoli (1741-42), Rettore perpetuo dell'Università degli studi in Modena. Da un attestato inserito nel Libro dei privilegi del Comune di Modena, in data 10 aprile 1769, risulta che fin d'allora la famiglia era annoverata "inter primarias et nobiliores" della città ed ascritta al Libro d'oro, iscrizione questa confermata il 23 marzo 1816.
