Es opinión de algunos genealogistas que este antiguo y noble linaje de B. procede de los vizcondes de Bearne, emparentados con la casa real de Francia, y traen en apoyo de su criterio la semejanza de las armas de unos y otros, pues el escudo de los vizcondes de Bearne, desde su más remota antigüedad, tiene dos bueyes, con esquillón puesto en palo, y los bueyes figuran también como piezas de las armas de los B., desde su establecimiento en Aragón y Valencia. Añaden los aludidos genealogistas que los castillos (piezas igualmente del escudo de los B.) también se encuentran en los sellos de Bearne. Otros autores hacen a los B. descendientes de los Fortuniones, emparentados con los reyes de Francia, y mosén Jaime Febrer cita a Sancho B., señor de Biel, diciendo que descendía de Ximén Fortuny, conde de Aragón, y que llevaba su sangre. Añade que este Sancho sirvió a su costa en la conquista de Valencia, y que el rey aragonés don Jaime I le premió, aumentándole su patrimonio. Viciana, en cambio, señala otro origen el apellido B., y en apoyo de sus manifestaciones aporta pruebas documentales de valor indiscutible. Dice el citado tratadista valenciano que los B. descienden del caballero García Aznares, que se retiró a los montes Pirineos por los años de 712, huyendo de la morisma que había invadido a España, e hizo su asiento en el valle de Gallán. ...
