Antica ed assai nobile famiglia toscana, oriunda da Castelfiorentino, detta Branchi o Branco, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia con insediamenti cospicui in Veneto. Già da tempo ammessa alla cittadinanza fiorentina, venne ascritta a alla nobiltà di Modigliana, in persona dell'avvocato Lorenzo, di Paolo Antonio, e fratelli, ovvero il dott. Giuseppe ed il dottor Tommaso, con rescritto II gennaio 1840, ed alla nobiltà di Firenze con rescritto I° maggio dello stesso anno. Altro ramo. Antica famiglia veneta, di chiara ed avita virtù, la quale, verosimilmente, venne ammessa ai privilegi del cavalierato, su delibera del Senato della Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia, in ricompensa dell'impresa cui prese parte un Giuliano Branco, nel 1447, compiuta con il respingere le truppe dell'arciduca d'Austria Sigismondo, aldilà dei confini della Repubblica. Ma, d'altronde, tal famiglia sempre riuscì a distinguersi, grazie agli elevati personaggi, a cui diede i natali. Tra questi, senza nulla ...
