Nobility crown Brazzà Cergneu SavorgnanAncient castle and parliamentary family of Friuli, derived from a Detalmo, lord of Cergneu, who in an act of 25 November 1303, drawn up by an anonymous notary of Cividale (Udine notarial archive) is said to be the son of qm. D. Corrado di Savorgnano, who in turn is considered the son of Rodolfo, progenitor of the illustrious family of the Venetian Savorgnan patricians. The son of Detalmo, Pietro, made the purchase in 1357 of the castle of Brazzà Superiori by the ancient lords of the place, and from the name of this he came with the successors called of B. or Brazzacco. Giovanni, his brother (1326-1356), instead continued the Cergneu line, which became extinct in 1766. The noble Giov. Battista di Cergneu (born 1490, dec. 1567) an effective chronicler of the Friulian civil wars of his time. Of the sons of the said Pietro, one, Gaspare (dec. 1365), continued the line according to B. Superiore, which became extinct in the mid-sixteenth century, the other, Francesco (1368-1372), gave rise to the line of B. Inferiore, which in turn was divided into two still existing branches, that of the Marquises of Gavignano and the other known as Pagnacco. Among the men who illustrated this family, we will mention: Hector, of Jerome (dec. 1684), general of the imperial army; Giovanni Francesco, his brother, bailiff of the order of Malta (1690); Count Pietro (born 1851, dec 1905), a famous traveler from Central Africa, founder of the capital of the Belgian Congo, known as Brazzaville; Count Giacomo (dec. 1887), also an intrepid African explorer. Detalmo (from which the branch of the Marches of Gavignana) asked the Rep.
