Nobility crown BungaroAntica ed illustre casata pugliese, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia e d'Europa. Secondo quanto ci viene tramandato, essa ha tratto origine dalla quasi omonima casata Ungaro, anch'essa illustre prosapia pugliese. Prima culla degli Ungaro, da cui dunque i Bungaro, fu la città di Castellaneta da donde poi si portarono in Taranto ed ivi furono aggregati a quella nobiltà. Nel secolo decimoquarto ebbero in possesso il feudo di Tafagnano, precisamente sotto il regno di Carlo II d'Angiò. Successivamente un Giovanni, già razionale della Regia Camera, ottenne il feudo di Casal Laureto dalla regina Giovanna, con esattezza nel 1510. Il casato ottenne poi il feudo di Casale Montejasi nel XVIII secolo, sul quale un Carlo ottenne l’investitura di duca da re Ferdinando IV di Borbone.
