Os que actualmente existem em Portugal provêm de Antão C., fidalgo castelhano que veio homiziado e cuja naturalidade parece ser Córdova, posto que haja quem diga ter nascido em Beja. Casou em Olivença no ano de 1473 com Brites Lobo de Gama, filha de Tomé Lobo e de Leonor da Gama, e deixou geração, que se espalhou pelo Alentejo. Pelas provanças que se foram tiras a Córdova para seu neto Antão C. Lobo ser cavaleiro da Ordem de Malta, se averiguou proceder aquele primeiro Antão C. do senhores de C.. Anteriormente a este, veio para Portugal Pedro C., o qual deixou descendência, que também se manteve no Alentejo. O apelido em Espanha é Cabera. Deste casal foi filho Manuel C. da Gama, fidalgo da Casa de D. João III (alv. de 16.1.1536), c. 1ª vez com D. Catarina de Magalhães, de Ponte de Barca, sendo 5º neto deste casal João da Ponte C., tenente-mestre de campo general, herói da Restauração, cav. prof. da o. de Cristo (18.9.1671), c. com D. Ana Fernandes Calado. Foi seu bisneto outro João da Ponte C., natural de Arronches, e progenitor da família C. no Algarve, onde instituíu o morgado da Córte, a 22.8.1724, que c. com D. Francisca de Brito e Alvelos, filha de Belchior de Alvelos e Brito, cav. fidalgo da C. R. (alv. de 11.11.1667), cav. da o. de Cristo, etc., e mulher D. Simoa Taborda. Foi filha herdeira deste casal D. Maria-Teresa de Brito e Alvelos da Ponte de Oliveira e Sória C., 2ª sr.ª do morgado da Córte. ...
