Su primitiva casa solar radicó en la villa de Gámiz, del partido de Guernica-Luno (Vizcaya). Otras casas se fundaron desputés en las villas de Larrabezúa, del partido de Bilbao, y de Zarauz, en Guipúzcoa. A esta útima casa perteneció Gonzalo de Cafranga, valeroso Capitán de los primeros tiempos de la Reconquista. De la casa de la villa de Larrabezúa fué originari José de Cafranga y Castilla, natural de Salamanca y Caballero de la Orden franga y Castilla, natural de Salamanca y Caballero de la Orden de Carlos III, en la que ingresó el 14 de Septiembre de 1815.
