Nobility crown Camozzi De Gherardi VertovaThe Camozzi De Gherardi family and the Vertova family, both from Lombardy, joined in the early 19th century. The progenitor of the Camozzi family is a Lanfranco (in acts 1280) whose initial surname was De Gherardis. His lineage originates from the Forcella di Bordogna, in the Upper Brembana Valley, where Marchisio called Camozzo still resided in 1457 and after him the surname was completed in Camozzi de Gherardi or Gherardi Camozzi. The latter added the surname Vertova (1846), by concession resulting from the sovereign resolution of July 29, 1846, and, with a Royal Motupropriate Decree of February 27, 1887, obtained for renewal, with masculine and feminine transmission, the title of count, already due to the extinct Vertova. He had wife Giovanna Giulini, sister of Count Cesare, also senator of the Kingdom and member of the Provisional Government of Lombardy in 1848. Anna Maria, daughter of Giovanni, born in 1841, colonel, belongs to the branch of this family, called Mozzanico Austrian and superintendent of the imperial stables, married to Prince Giordi of Turn and Taxis. The palace of this illustrious lineage in Bergamo was a lively center of Risorgimento political activity. The Camozzi De Gherardi Vertova also had villas in Ranica and Torre Boldone, works by the architect Simone Elia, ...
