Le "Istorie trevigiane", infatti, ricordano diversi personaggi di questa famiglia che rivestirono la carica di Console e di consigliere della repubblica, fino oltre la metà del secolo XIII. Circa in quest'epoca si stabilirono in Mantova definitivamente; durante la dominazione dei Gonzaga, e cioè dal 1328 al 1707, parecchi furono ambasciatori e segretari di Stato presso corti straniere, due furono governatori di Casale, due presidenti del Magistrato di Mantova, uno fu ministro ed uno podestà di Viadana. Dette numerosi maggiordomi, protonotari apostolici e camerieri d'onore a vari pontefici nel XVI secolo. Giulio, Ippolito, Camillo, Alfonso e Lelio si distinsero per i loro scritti italiani e latini, si che il Tasso e l'Ariosto li ricordano nelle loro rime.
