Filippo Maria Visconti nel 1412 dichiarò nobile la famiglia Capitani di Vimercate. Gregorio Vescovo di Trebisonda nel 1461. Lo Spreti scrive che il capostipite sia un Pinamonte dei signori di Vimercate nel XII secolo. Un Guido, suo contemporaneo, fu podestà di Bologna e console di Milano. La famiglia fu dichiarata nobile nel 1412 dal duca Filippo Maria Visconti.
