Dal Milanese un ramo dei Carcani passò in Bari nel 1493, e poi in Trani nel 1622. Ha goduto nobiltà nelle città di Milano, Trani al Seggio di Portanova e Barletta. Si vedono monumenti di questa famiglia in Bari nel Duomo. Ebbe il contado di Nicorvo, i marchesati di Anzano e Pugnago, e il ducato di Montaldino.
