Nobility crown CarusoAntica ed illustre famiglia piacentina, secondo il Crescenzi, napoletana, secondo quanto riferisce Mugnos ed accredita Inveges, la quale vanta come capostipite un cavaliere Pier Fortugno de Caruso, ai servigi dell'imperatore Federico II, che si distinse, circa nel 1026, nella presa d'assedio della città di Nocera, conquistandola astutamente; ciò diede occasione al nome ed all'arme. Da Napoli i suoi posteri, per ben due volte, passarono in Sicilia. Primieramente con un Giovanni de' Caruso, ai servigi di re Federico II, di cui fu segretario e consigliere, essendo anche stato eletto promotore dell'ufficio di notaro, della di cui importanza il detto Mugnos molto ragiona. Sotto re Martino, il detto Giovanni acquistò, nel 1397, il feudo di Comitini, e, nel 1399, il territorio del Granato. Nel secondo passaggio, primo ceppo fu un Antonello Caruso, gentiluomo napoletano sotto lo stesso re Martino. Del resto sappiamo che la famiglia Caruso si estese in Noto, Palermo, Catania ...
