El primitivo solar de este linaje fue el lugar de C., que dio nombre al linaje y que estaba en la antigüedad enclavado en el término de Zaragoza. Hace mucho tiempo que dicho lugar es un despoblado, ignorándose la época y la causa de su desaparición. El primer caballero del linaje de quien se tiene noticia lo menciona mosén Jaime Febrer en sus "Trovas", y lo llama Gil C., añadiendo que tenía su noble y antigua casa solariega en el pueblo de Villerdá, de las inmediaciones de Zaragoza. Ese pueblo, que sin duda, estaba próximo al de C., debió como éste, desaparecer hace mucho tiempo, pues no figura en ninguno de los diccionarios geográficos que hemos consultado. El hecho de que Febrer apellide C. al citado Gil no quiere decir que estos apellidos fueran distintos. Lejos de ello, hay una prueba concluyente de que ambos eran un mismo linaje, y nos la ofrece el escudo que el citado Gil C. traía y que no era otro que el que ostentaron varias antiguas casas de C., dimanadas del solar del desaparecido pueblo de ese nombre. Entendemos, pues, que del primitivo solar del lugar de C. dimanó la casa del pueblo de Villerdá, como igualmente la del mismo linaje, radicada en el lugar de Escatrón (del partido judicial de Caspe, en la misma provincia de Zaragoza), de la que, a su vez, procedieron las casas de los lugares de Sobradiel, en el partido de Zaragoza; de Usón, del partido de Sariñena (Huesca). Otra casa muy antigua. Apellido aragonés. Procede del desaparecido lugar de Cerdán en la provincia de Zaragoza. Una rama pasó a Valencia, donde se apellidó Cerdá. Caballeros de este linaje probaron su nobleza en las Ordenes de Montesa y Carlos III. ...
