Nobility crown CerdaEsta noble e ilustre familia desciende del Infante Don Fernando, hijo primogénito del Rey de Castilla Don Alfonso X, el Sabio, y no tomó su nombre, como la mayoría de los grandes linajes, de la tierra reconquistada o de los lugares y dominios que poseían, sino de la siguiente y singular circunstancia: el citado Infante Don Fernando había nacido con un pelo largo o cerda en el pecho, y por ello, sus contemporáneos le aplicaron el sobrenombre de Infante o Príncipe de la C., apelativo que después adoptaron como apellido sus descendientes. Don Fernando, el de la C. (hijo mayor y heredero del Rey Don Alfonso X, el Sabio, de Castilla y de su mujer la Reina Doña Violante, hija a su vez del Rey Don Jaime I de Aragón), contrajo matrimonio con la Princesa Doña Blanca de Francia, hija del Rey San Luis, y fueron padres de Alfonso de la C., llamado el Desheredado, que sigue; y Fernando de la C., que fué por su matrimonio Señor de la gran casa de Lara y ricos estados de Castilla. Casó con la Infanta Doña Juana Núñez de Lara, Señora de la casa de Lara y de las villas de Lerma, Villafranca, Dueñas, Torrelobatón y Herrera, a quien llamaron en su tiempo la Palomilla (hija de Juan Núñez de Lara, segundo del nombre, Ricohombre y Señor de la casa de Lara, etc., llamado el Bueno, el Gordo y el Mayor, y de doña Teresa Álvarez de Azagra, Señora de la casa de Azagra y Soberana de la ciudad de Albarracín).
