Era neto paterno de António de C., fidalgo da mesma Casa, capitão do castelo de Fresne, e de sua mulher, Isabel Noble; e bisneto, por linha varonil, de Francisco Lemercier, outrossim fidalgo da Casa Real, com o foro de gentil-homem ordinário da Câmara dos Reis de França, senhor de C. e de outros terras. João Alexandre de C. foi casado com Ana de Saint-Aubin Legros, de quem teve Teodósio Constantino de C. e outros filhos que serviram na Índia.
