Fernando I Lourenço Pires C. houve a terra de Baldigem, por Carta de 28-VII-1367. Atendendo à peça principal das armas dos Cirnes, talvez se deva procurar a etimologia do apelido na palavra cisne que, em voz antiquada ou incorrecta, assim se pronunciava, prevalecendo tal forma à legítima. Não se conhece a ligação familiar entre Aires Afonso C. e Lourenço Pires C., nem a destes com João C., em quem começa com sequência a história desta linhagem. João C. o Velho, foi mordomo-mor da Rainha D. Filipa e senhor da quinta do Crestes, na freguesia do Campo, que teve em dote do seu casamento com D. Maria Fernandes de Sottomayor, filha de João Fernandes de Sottomayor e de D. Filipa de Sá e neta paterna de Fernando Anes de Sottomayor, senhor da Casa e solar de Sottomayor. João C. foi sepultado na igreja de S. Salvador, da freguesia do Campo, concelho de Barcelos, deixando do seu matrimónio um filho de igual nome por quem se continuou o apelido.
