Mosén Jaime Febrer indica que procedió de la Provenza, pues dice que de allí vino a servir al rey don Jaime I de Aragón, ayudándole en la conquista de Valencia, un caballero llamado Juan Climent, que se distinguió en numerosas acciones y fue heredado por el citao monarca en la villa de Altura, del partido judicial de Segorbe (Castellón). Juan Francisco de Flores, cronista de Felipe V., lo hace dimanar de patricios de Roma que pasaron a España, haciendo en Aragón diversas fundaciones. Y en la familia se conservó una tradición que señalaba por ascendiente del linaje al Pontífice romano San Clemente, Papa de los primeros tiempos del cristianismo. En Valencia. Ramas de Atlura, Valencia y Alcira. El caballero Juan C., citado por Febrer, y que ayudó a don Jaime I de Aragón el la conquista de Valencia, siendo heredado por el citado monarca en la villa de Altura, del partido judicial de Segorbe (Castellón), dejó sucesores en Altura, de los que dimanaron los Climent que más tarde se establecieron el la ciudad de Valencia. A principios del siglo XVI florecía en la mencionada capital levantina Dionsio C., descendiente del repetido Juan C., que fue padre de otro Dionisio y Joaquín y José Cristóbal C., que se distinguieron en Valencia en el desempño de varios oficios honoríficos.
