Nobility crown ColoçosPretendem alguns autores que os Colaços provêm de Álvaro Anes de Pendes, fidalgo castelhano que veio para Portugal com a Rainha D. Leonor, mulher de D. Duarte, dizendo que ele casara em Setúbal com D. Maria de Aguiar, filha de Diogo Afonso de Aguiar e de sua segunda mulher. Deste casamento, informa tais autores, nasceram Fernão Anes de Pendes, que moreu na África, João Álvares C., Pedro de Pendes de Aguiar, que casou mas não teve geração, e D. Isabel de Aguiar, de quem não há mais notícia. O mencionado João Álvare C., bom cavaleiro, militou na África, obrando notáveis actos, pos cujo motivo, como dizem os genealogistas, lhe deu D. Afonso V, em 1473, armas novas. Recebeu-se em Sintra com D. Ana de Góis, filha de Pedro Anes de Góis e de sua mulher, D. Maria Nunes, de cujo matrimónio nasceram diversos filhos que propagaram o apelido C.. Pretendem outros autores que os Calaços são mais antigos, alegando que em tempo de D. Afonso III vivia Fernão C., de Portel, e que no de D. Fernando existiu Afonso C., fidalgo honrado, avô de João Álvares C., a quem foram concedidas armas novas. Querem ainda outros que provenham de João Álvares de Pina, colaço de D. João I. Vê-se, pois, que todos lhe dão por ascendente um João Álvares, que bem podia ser o da família dos Pinas pela circunstância de ser colaço do Mestre de Avis, tanto mais plausível este quanto é notória a semelhança das armas dos Colaços e dos Pinas, pois sòmente variam nos esmaltes.
