Nobility crown ConeglianIl cognome originario di questa illustre famiglia fu Cunian, mutato poi in Conian, Conegliano e Coneglian. Il nome Conian non cessò però mai del tutto. Israel Conian, rabbino dei tedeschi a Pavia, morì nel 1624. Abram Ioel Conegliano scrisse nel 1682 a Ceneda il Codice Rosenthal 21. Il grande studioso Moritz Steinschneider ritiene che questi vari nomi derivino da Conegliano, in provincia di Treviso. Ed infatti proprio a Conegliano e a Ceneda vissero a partire dal XVI secolo numerosi personaggi di questo nome che trovasi sepolti nel Cimitero antico degli Ebrei, situato nella località denominata Calabau. Ivi si trovano infatti lapidi dei Conegliano, o Coneglian, recanti la data 1545, 1600, 1605 e munite di emblema, identico a quello scolpito sui monumenti sepolcrali del Conian esistenti nel cimitero di S.M. Materdomini in Padova. Ed infatti nel XVI secolo fu in realtà Padova il principale luogo di dimora della famiglia o quantomeno ...
