Nobility crown CostonRivoire de la Bâtie nous donne une généalogie de cette famille dont il commence la filiation à Pierre, lieutenant dans le régiment de Piémont en 1620. Au 3° degré, Claude-François, né en 1652, capitaine au régiment de Picardie et mousquetaire du Roi, se distingua par la prise de Valenciennes, en 1677. Il épousa en 1682, Louise de Bouvier de Montmeyran, seule héritière de la branche aînée de cette famille, il mourut chevalier de Saint-Louis, en 1732, laissant entre autres: Jean-Charles, baron de Durtail, né en 1699, capitaine dans le régiment de Tallard, prit part au siègede Philippsburg, hérita de la baronnie de Durtail, Cornas et Saint-Romain, en Vivarais, que lui légua Jeanne de Bouvier, sa mère. Le château de Durtail, aujourd'hui en ruine, qualifié de baronnie dans les actes des XIVème siècle, fut donné en 1217 par Humbert de Mirabel, évêque de Valence, à Guigue de Tournon, et vendu en 1672 par les héritiers du dernier comte de Tournon. Jean-Charles épousa, en 1736, Marie-Emérantianne du Claux, fille d'un président en l'élection de Montélimar et mourut en 1745, dont entre autres: Charles-Louis, baron de Cornas, seigneur de Durtail et Saint-Romain, né en 1741, capitaine au régiment de la couronne, chevalier de Saint-Louis en 1784, épousa en 1773 Françoise de Grimauld.
