L'origine di tal cognominizzazione, al dir di autorevoli genealogisti, andrebbe ricercata nel comune della Provincia di Biella "Crevacuore", luogo di origine della famiglia, su cui ebbe la signoria. L'etimologia di tale toponimo è in parte oscura. L'ipotesi più accreditata è questa: "CREPA" = CAPRA; "CORIUM" = CUOIO, quindi CREPA-CORIUM. Il paese di Crevacuore, d'altronde, era un luogo ove i pastori portavano a vendere i loro prodotti, specialmente in cuoio. In ogni modo, la tradizione vuole che tal casata discenda dal celebre Aimone, conte di Vercelli, che nel 905 ebbe proprio il dominio di Crevacuore. I suoi discendenti sarebbero, appunto, proprio i signori di Crevacuore. Inoltre, tal famiglia, nel dispiegarsi dei lustri, sempre è riuscita a produrre una serie di uomini che resero illustre il suo nome, nei pubblici impieghi, nelle professioni liberali ed ecclesiastiche ...
