Antica ed assai nobile famiglia del Regno delle Due Sicilie, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Originario di Napoli, questo casato passò a risiedere in Sicilia, sotto la regina Eleonora, con un Giovanni-Antonio, dei baroni della Rocchetta, che fu progenitore di molti illustri gentiluomini, i quali occuparono importanti cariche, fra cui quella di castellano dei castelli di Mineo e Milazzo. Un Vito D’Angelo acquistò metà del feudo di Bertolino o Mezzocatuso, del quale ne fu investito il 29 aprile 1652 e che trasmise al figlio primogenito Niccolò, investito dello stesso il 6 dicembre 1658 ed acquisitore, da potere della R. Corte, dell’ufficio di Maestro Giurato del Val di Mazzara nel 1660.
