Nell'Archivio della Trinità di Amalfi, infatti, in un testamento redatto nell'anno 1271 da Bartolomeo del Giudice, si elencano gli avi del casato, tra cui Sergio, conte di Amalfi; inoltre, si legge che, nell'anno 1100, lo stesso possedeva terreni lungo le mura della città. In quei tempi, il casato godeva di nobiltà anche a Napoli, dove Urso del Giudice, chiamato Comite Maurone, possedeva case e terreni nei pressi del porto della città partenopea.
