Antico ed assai nobile casato spagnolo originario di Orozco, nella provincia di Biscaglia, propagatosi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni di Spagna e del Mondo. Secondo quanto ci viene tramandato, i fratelli Doncel accompagnarono re Ferdinando Alfonso, detto il Santo, durante la presa di Jaén e l'assedio di Siviglia.
