Nobility crown DumondOn a tout lieu de croire que cette famille, dont les premiers sujets habitaient Valenciennes, et qui vint s'établir en Périgord, en 1782, est une branche du même nom en Flandres, dont il est parlé dans le Chenays-Desbois. Ce généalogiste mentionne, en effet, un François-Louis-Joseph, écuyer, seigneur Du Mont et de Beaufort, lequel partagea avec son frère cadet la succession de leur mère, de 3 septembre 1730 et 8 octobre 1731. Cette opinion, d'une communauté d'origine, acquiert une nouvelle force quand on voit l'analogie des anciens armes de la famille des Flandres et celle du Périgord. Les premiers portent: aux 1 et 4, d'azur au sautoir d'or, accompagné de trois molettes d'éperon de même, et les seconds, avant l'adoption du mont, (armes parlantes), portaient: d'azur au chevron d'argent chargé de cinq mouchetures d'hermine, accompagné également de trois molettes d'éperon. Les deux frères dont il vient d'être ici question étaient fils de Roland-Claude-Honoré, écuyer, seigneur de Croix, reçu chevalier d'honneur au bailliage royal et présidial de Bailleur en Flandres, au mois de janvier 1735, et petit-fils de Philippe-Ernest, écuyer, seigneur de Croix, de Beaulieu et de la Sollière, grand bailli des villes et pays d'Armentières et de Saint-Simon. ...
