Elle compte au nombre de ses membres le duc de Duras en 1668, le comte de Rauzan, le marquis de Civrac, le duc de Quintin en 1691, le duc de Lorge en 1706, le marquis de Coëtquen, le vicomte d'Uzel et de Pommerit, le marquis de la Marzelière (paroisse de Bain). Alliée en Bretagne aux Coëtquen, Butault, Coëtnempren et Budes, cette famille a produit plusieurs personnages célèbres, on signale dans le nombre: Arnaud, seigneur de Bajamont, marié à Marquise de Goth, dame de Duras, morte en 1323. On rencontre aussi sous ce nom: cinq maréchaux de France de 1675 à 1775; un abbé de Boquen en 1723; un abbé de la Vieuville en 1750, évêque d'Avranches, puis de Montpellier et archevêque de Besançon, mort en 1792, et huit chevaliers des ordres du Roi depuis 1597. A ce nom, on attribue un signe distinctif de noblesse représenté par le blason que l'on reproduit ci-dessous et qui confirme aussi à travers ses emblêmes, au point de vue historique et héraldique, l'assurance d'une valeur remarquable. Il est fort difficile, pour ne pas dire impossible, de réunir en faisceau toutes les tiges éparses de cette maison. ...
