El primitivo solar de este linaje estuvo en el Valle de Quiroga, en Galicia. Se estableció después en la Abadía de San Clodio de Rivas del Sil y en los lugares de Villardomato, Dueñas, Bairos y San Román, de la citada Abadía. Algunos tratadistas afirman que hubo otro solar muy antiguo en el lugar de Santabad de Arborea, en Navarra, y que una rama pasó a Aragón, otra a Galicia y otro a las Indias. El citado solar fue de Ricohombre infanzones. Se extendió por toda la Península, creando Casas solariegas en la Rioja y Navarra. La familia E. originaria de Cataluña, se estableció en Valencia. A ella perteneció Braulio Salvador E.. Otro caballero de este linaje pasó a la conquista de Mallorca y quedó heredado en el repartimiento con las alquerías de Algaldense y Maritichis Abenbacax, en el distrito de Montueri. Berenguer E. pasó igualmente de Cataluña a Mallorca en tiempos de la Reconquista. Este apellido se estableció en Canarias y a él pertenecía don Pedro E. y Ugarte, que nació en La Orotava el 5 de marzo de 1745. Estudió latín y filosofía en Sevilla y a los diecinueve años pasó a Granada en cuya Universidad recibió el grado de Doctor en Sagrada Teología. Fue electo canónigo de Zamora y en 1796, Obispo de Mérida en Yucatán. Murió en su obispado el 10 de mayo de 1821. En el pasado siglo, hubo en La Orotava un magnífico imaginero, posible discípulo de Luján Pérez, llamado Fernando E.. Don Antonio E.
