Cette famille est une branche issue de noble Philibert, mort à Aix en 1572 et dont la descendance fut maintenue en sa noblesse, par arrêt des commissaires du roi du 20 février 1669 et par arrêt confirmatif, du conseil d'état du roi du 5 novembre 1677, enregistrés au parlement d'Aix par ordonnance du 13 juillet 1678. La branche d'Estienne du Bourguet remonte à noble Joseph d'Estienne, fils cadet de Philibert et greffier en chef du parlement de Provence en 1582. Elle s'est divisée en deux rameaux: le premier, des Estienne seigneurs du Bourguet et de Bagarris. Elle compte parmi ses descendants plusieurs possesseurs d'offices de finances et trois conseillers au parlement de Provence. Joseph d'Estienne seigneur du Bourguet élu consul de la ville d'Aix en 1703. Bruno, élu consul de la ville d'Aix en 1709. Jules-Denis, qui prit part aux assemblées de la noblesse de la sénéchaussée d'Aix tenues en 1789. Louis-Jules-François, fils du précédent, chevalier de la Légion d'honneur, maire d'Aix de 1815 à 1830, mort en 1834. Parmi les représentants actuels de cette maison on trouve: Pierre-Guillaume-Jean-Baptiste-Auguste d'Estienne de Gaufridy baron de Saint-Estève.
