Nobility crown FariaFamília da mais antigas de Portugal, sabendo-se que já no tempo de D. Afonso Henriques vivia João de F., pai do beato D. Godinho, arcebispo de Braga por morte de D. João Peculiar, Aparece depois, no reinado de D. Afonso III, um Frei João de F., clérigo de el-re e seu conselheiro, da Ordem dos Pregadores, que em 1277 assistiu à audiência concedida por aquele príncipe ao núncio do Papa João XXI. Este Frei João era irmão ou filho de D. Teresa Martins, viúva de Pedro Martins da Infanta, a quem o arcediago de Braga, D. Pedro Viegas, comprou a 13 das Calendas de Março do ano de 1305, o censo de cinco maravedis, pago pelas herdade de Ermida de S. Paio, no julgado de Vermoim. Nas Inquirições de D. Afondo III, tiradas no ano de 1258, figura Gonçalo Gomes de F. e nas de D. Dinis, do ano de 1288, se fala em Lourenço de F., senhor da Quintã de Onega do Paço, que então era de D. Estêvão Peres de Rates, agente de D. Afonso III e clérigo de D. Dinis, que parece ser da linhagem dos Farias. Em 1360, no instrumento de comprovação do matrimónio de D. Pedro I com D. Inês de Castro, menciona-se Garcia Martins de F., cavaleiro. Nas Inquirições de D. Dinis também figura um Vicente Gonçalves, que tinha propriedade honrada na freguesia de Santa Maria de F. Antiga, a qual, na ocasião em que os inquisidores aí foram, era de D. Estêvão Peres de Rates. Timbre: a torro do escudo, rematada por uma das flores-de-lis. ...
