Le premier de cette famille, dont nous avons des nouvelles, est un André F., mentionné dans une sentence du 2 octobre 1443. Nombreux donc furent les membres de la famille qui occupèrent la charge de consul du Puy : Pierre, en 1556 ; Mathieu, en 1561 et 1574 ; Claude, en 1577, 1586, 1592 et 1604 ; Antoine, en 1607, 1613 et 1620. Par un acte du 9 janvier 1510, cependant, un Pierre F., du Puy, achète la baronnie d'Agrain à Guillaume Maurel.
