The matrix cognomen is Favero and in fact the Favaretto are believed to be of the same agnation as the Venetian Favero nobles and therefore were part, in 1200, of the Maggior Consiglio della Serenissima. The Faveros, originally from Treviso but with residence in Venice, became extinct in 1308 but some collateral branches survived, including the one called Favaretto. However, the first documentary attestation of the surname in its current form Favaretto occurs in 1564 in Preganziol (TV), in a document from the Parish archives, from which it appears that the Favaretti have resided in the Municipality with certainty since the tenth century.
