Por el año de 1386, existía ya en la villa de Felanitx, del partido judicial de Manacor, en la isla de Mallorca, la casa solariega de esta familia. En tiempos de los comuneros era capitán a guerra un F. que murió en una de aquellas contiendas. Tres hijos suyos se refugiaron en Alcudia. Pedro F. fué Conseller en 1531, y Benito F., protector del Convento del Carmen, obtuvo privilegio de ciudadano el 20 de Octubre de 1563. En 1601 se les concedió también a Miguel y Bartolomé F. Este último fué armado caballero en 1612, y se le expidió el título de noble en 16 de Junio de 1616. Contrajo matrimonio con doña Beatriz Dameto, y procrearon a Miguel F., que casó con doña Onofra Verí y Guerón, y fueron padres de Bartolomé F. y Veri, caballero de Calatrava y Capitán del Ejército de Cataluña. Antonio F. y Gual fue regidor perpetuo de Palma, por la clase de caballeros, en 1645, y su descendiente Ignacio José F. y Gual, diputado en las Cortes de 1789. El rey don Carlos IV concedió a este último un título de Castilla con la denominación de marqués de la Cueva, con fecha 5 de agosto de 1790. En 8 de octubre de 1802 el mismo monarca le concedió los honores y tratamiento de grande de España. Fue dicho marqués el último varón de la familia, al que sucedió doña María Francisca Villalonga y F., su sobrina. El marqués de la Romana posee, como sucesor de los Valero, un vínculo de F., consistente en el señorío de las escribanías del pariaje y en el predio Son Ferrandell, de Valdemora. ...
