Oriundid i Racconigi, e largamente diramati in numerose linee ora tutte estinte. E' ricordo di un Giovanni Enrico dei signori di Bonavalle, che fu dottore di leggi, avvocato dei poveri (13 novembre 1579), senatore (13 dic. 1580), e consegnó porzioni di Cavallerleone nel 1594. Il ramo presente ha per suo stipite Giovanni Paolo, il quale fu investito di Cavallerleone nel 1576. Attraverso a numerose generazioni assai oscure provenne Carlo Luigi (n. Racconigi, 19 nov. 1809), che fu padre di Cesare e Luigi. Cesare (n. Torino, 15 genn. 1852), dottore di leggi, che fu deputato al Parlamento Nazionale nelle legislature 19 e 20, sottosegretario di Stato alle finanze (1899), ed é valente cultore di scienze economiche, politiche e storiche, fu adottato il 4 febb. 1874 (decreto Corte d'Appello di Torino, 20 febbraio 1874) da Adele Ripa, da Bologna, vedova del marchese Brumone Turinetti di Cambiano. Con R. D. del 13 luglio 1879 ebbe la concessione del titolo di marchese, e con R. D. del 6 genn. 1884, e successive RR. LL. PP. del 17 febbraio, ebbe la concessione del predicato di Cambiano sul cognome. Ebbe con R. D. dell'8 giugno 1897, e successive RR. LL. PP. del 19 dicembre, l'aggiunta, unitamente al fratello Luigi, del predicato di Cavallerleone sul cognome. La famiglia é iscritta nel Libro d'Oro della Nobiltá Italiana e nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobile Italiano coi titoli di marchese (mpr.); Nobile (mf.); predicato di Cambiano sul cognome; predicato di Cavallerleone sul cognome in persona di Cesare, di Carlo Luigi, di Giangiacomo. Motto della famiglia: Feruntur ferrea pennis. ...
