Muy antiguo y noble linaje, originario de Cataluña y extendido por Aragón, Valencia y Baleares. Tuvo su solar primitivo en la parroquia de San Pedro, de la hoy ciudad de Figueres (cuyo nombre tomó), en el Ampurdán y provincia de Gerona, y allí gozaron siempre los de este linaje, desde tiempos muy remotos, de todos los privilegios relativos a los nobles, recibiendo también grandes mercedes de los condes de Barcelona y de los reyes de Aragón, y poseyendo sepultura propia en la iglesia de Vilabertrán (de la Orden de los agustinos), sita en el término de la villa del mismo nombre perteneciente al partido judicial de F. De los documentos de la familia que se han estudiado se deduce que, en principios del siglo XIII, residían en F. y eran naturales de esta localidad, tres hermanos llamados mosén Jaime, mosén Pedro y Domingo de Figuera, o F., que fueron los fundadores de las principales ramas del linaje. El primero de esos tres hermanos, mosén Jaime de Figuera, es cabeza de la familia de este linaje que se extendió por el maestrazgo (Morella, Valencia y Teruel), pues creó esa rama en el período de la reconquista de Valencia su hijo Miguel de Figuera, que pasó de Cataluña a establecerse en el lugar de Bordón (maestrazgo), perteneciente al partido judicial de Castellote y provincia de Teruel en la raya de Valencia, radicando también sus descendientes en la villa de Benasal, del partido de Albocácer (Castellón); en la ciudad de Morella, de la misma provincia. ...
