Cette famille, d'après une intéressante généalogie publiée par le Vicomte de Montravel dans la Revue du Vivarais, appartient à notre province, comme ayant possédé de nombreuses terres et ayant sa demeure ordinaire au château de Chomé, alias Chimay, situé dans la paroisse de Charnas. Cette maison posséda les seigneuries de Prost, Chemé, La Valette, de Pélussin, Lussan, Rochefort, Gajan, Sauzey et Grézieu. Le premier connu et dont la filiation soit suivie est, d'après le vicomte de Montravel, Antoine vivant en 1418, nommé dans le contrat de mariage de son fils. Noble Etienne, damoiseau, qui épousa, le 29 janvier 1438, noble Catherine de Romastanié, fille de noble Humbert, seigneur de Vaugris. Nous renverrons le chercheur à la généalogie donnée dans la Revue du Vivarais par notre savant compatriote. Généalogie très complète et qu'il termine au VIIIème degré à Marc, seigneur de Chimay né le llundi 6 février 1662 à Vic-Saugues en Maconnais. Il ne se maria pas et servit dans les armées du Roi. Le 21 décembre 1687, par commission donnée à Versailles par Louis XIV, il fut nommé capitaine d'une compagnie de dragons au régiment d'Averne. Il fit son testament, le 25 juillet 1695, instituant héritière sa tante, Catherine, la priant,, à son décès, d'instituer pour son héritier Joseph, chanoine de Lyon. Marc-Antoine Pradier, marquis d'Agrain, héritier de tous le biens furent vendus. Marc, demeurant au château de la Valette, en Forez, neveu de l'archevêque de Lyon, ne fut pas trouvé et non assigné lors des recherches en 1697 faites contre les usurpateurs des titres de noblesse. ...
