The Forts enjoyed the priory and the gonfalonierato and dressed the knight's dress in the Order of S. Stefano. Francesco, of Antonio, although he died at the age of 32, left writings on philosophy and jurisprudence, known and appreciated also abroad; Pietro, brother of Francesco, was head of the diocese of Pescia from 1847 to 1854. Forti originari di Pescia; la difficile identificazione dell'animale, rappresentato senza coda perché nascente, ha portato alcuni araldisti e alcuni disegnatori a dare interpretazioni varie, quali cane o cavallo (cfr. Crollalanza 1886): tuttavia le descrizioni dell'arma annesse al processo per l'ammissione del cavaliere Francesco Forti alla nobiltà di Pescia nel 1771, parlano chiaramente di «lupa». Citato in "Raccolta Ceramelli Papiani" custodita presso l'archivio di stato di Firenze, fasc. 5630.
