Lope García de Salazar, en sus "Bienandanzas e Fortunas", dice que un hijo segundo de García de Zorroza se llamó Sancho Pérez de F., que casó con la hija única de Fernando de Avento, descendiente de los Señores de Vizcaya, y que se estableció en Fresnedo, cuyo nombre tomó por apellido. De esa unión nacieron: Fernando, Furtud Sánchez y Juana F. Dividió los bienes entre los tres, y nada se sabe qué fué del mayor, Fernando. Furtud Sánchez tuvo un hijo que murió sin descendencia y una hija que le heredó, llamada María Sánchez de F. Esta casó con Pero Sánchez Porra de Muñatones, terminando así esta familia y fundiéndose con la de Muñatones. Antonio Barahona, en su "Rosal de la Nobleza", hace al Sancho Pérez de F., el primero que pobló en el lugar de este nombre, hijo de Pedro García de Tovaza, de la Casa de Ayala. Hita, explicando el origen del apellido que nos ocupa, establece la siguinte filiación: Diego López, Señor de Vizcaya, tuvo un hijo llamado López Díaz, que procreó fuera de matrimonio, a otro. Lope Díaz, que recibió de su padre el Señorío de Casil, barrio cercano a Laredo. Pobló en dicho lugar; pero, por ciertas rebeldías que tuvo, su padre lo casó con una labradora, y en ella procreó a Fernando de Obando, que fundó los monasterios de San Pedro y San Julián de Obando y empeñó el de San Pedro por mil maravedís viejos, y N. de Ovando, casada con Sancho Pérez de F., llamado así porque pobló en el lugar de Fresnedo, que era hijo de García de Zorroza. ...
