Otra familia G. de la Torre se formó por entronque de la de Gómez de la villa de Laredo (Santander), con la de la Torre, de la anteiglesia de Abando (Bilbao). A la casa del lugar de Casar de Periedo, perteneció Juan G. de la Torre, natural de dicho lugar, que en su mujer, doña Magdalena Díaz de la Campa, natural del Concejo de Mazuerras, tuvo a Sebastián G. de la Torre y de la Campa, natural del lugar de Periedo, que contrajo matrimonio con doña Francisca Díaz de la Vega, de igual naturaleza, y fueron padres de Sebastián José G. de la Torre y Díaz de la Vega, natural de Periedo, Tesorero General del Ejército y Reino de Navarra y Caballero de la Orden de Santiago, en la que ingresó el 16 de Agosto de 1747. Poseyó esta casa de Casar de Periedo un mayorazgo que recayó más tarde en el Marquesado de Valbuena, y de ella procedieron igualmente, un General de la Orden de San Benito, más tarde Obispo de Túy, y otro Obispo de Ciudad Rodrigo, y fué fundadora de cinco pingües becas para estudiantes pobres. ...
