Un cuidadoso estudio de los datos màs antiguos revelan que el linaje de este noble apellido, tiene sus orìgenes en Vizcaya, con casa en la anteiglesia de Ceánuri (hoy villa), del partido judicial de Durango, de la que fué Martín de Gandàsegui, natural de Ceánuri, que contrajo matrimonio con doña María Ramos de Angoitìa, y fueron padres de Martín de Gandásegui y Ramos, natural de Ceánuri, que casó con doña Lucía de Aguirre, de la misma naturaleza, y tuvieron por hijo a Francisco de Gandàsegui y Aguirre, bautizado en Ceánuri el 22 de Agosto de 1692, que en su mujer, doña María Ventura de Iraurguiz, de igual naturaleza, tuvo a José de Gandàsegui e Iraurguiz, bautizado en Ceánuri el 3 de Julio de 1725, esposo de doña María de Sarasola, natural de la anteiglesia de Dima, y ambos padres de Juan Manuel de Gandásegui y Sarasola, bautizado en Ceánuri el 16 de Enero de 1761, quien obtuvo Real provisión de hidalguía en la Chancillería de Valladolid, el 2 de Abril de 1777. El 5 de julio de 1815, ingresó en la Orden de Cralos III. Hubo línea en Galdácano del mismo partido, y de ella procede don Remigio Gandásegui y Gorrochategui, Arzobispo de Valladolid. Los esmaltes de las armas del linaje Gandásegui tienen la plata, como símbolo de la luna que aporta pureza, sensibilidad, templanza, clemencia, y amabilidad. La bravura de estos caballeros la conocemos por la bordura de sus escudos, otorgada como insignia de valor y fortaleza de sus caballeros en la batalla. En la actualidad este apellido lo encontramos por diversas partes de España y en el país Vasco francés; y podemos decir que alguna rama de esta noble familia cruzó el Atlántico hacia el Nuevo Mundo, a principios del siglo XX, en busca de nuevos horizontes, extendiendo así su linaje por América. ...
