Hubo varias familias así apellidadas. Una moró en la villa de Alcalá del Río, del partido judicial de Sevilla, y formó su apellido G. de Zúñiga por entronque de un García de dicha villa con una señora del apellido Zúñiga. Ginés García, natural de Alcalá del Río, contrajo matrimonio con doña María de Aguilar, de la misma naturaleza. Este matrimonio, empadronado como hijodalgo, tuvo a Francisco José García de Aguilar, bautizado en Alcalá del Río el 1º de Agosto de 1660 y casado en la misma villa en 1681, con doña Ana Josefa Bernaldo de la Higuera y Zúñiga, de la que tuvo a Alonso G. de Zúñiga, bautizado en Alcalá del Río el 20 de Agosto de 1690. Fué Veinticuatro de Sevilla y pasó a las Indias, avecindándose en Buenos Aires, donde desempeñó los cargos de Regidor perpetuo en 1751, Alférez Real y Alcalde en 1752 y Procurador general de la ciudad en 1758. Contrajo matrimonio en Buenos Aires, el 1º de Septiembre de 1730, con doña Juana de Lizola, bautizada en la misma ciudad el 28 de Junio de 1707 (hija de Juan Martín de Lizola, natural de Lavallén, en las Montañas de Navarra, y de doña Ana de Escobar, hermana de Antonio de Escobar, Gobernador del Paraguay), y tuvieron los siguientes hijos Pedro G. de Zúñiga y Lizola, sacerdote; Esteban G. de Zúñiga y Lizola, que casó en Entre Ríos, con doña Agustina Moíns y Crespo, con sucesión; Juan Francisco G. de Zúñiga y Lizola, que sigue; María Josefa G. de Zúñiga y Lizola, casada con Joaquín Vedoya; y Bárbara G. de Zúñiga y Lizola. ...
