Filiation depuis l'an 1430. Jacques Gauthier seigneur de Villers et de la Boulaye, épousa le 28 octobre 1699 Claude-Marie de Beaufort-Canillac, dernière fille de Timolèon seigneur de Lavort. Il en eut: Maximilien Gauthier de la Boulaye convoqué en 1789 à l'assemblée de Riom, marié au Puy le 2 mai 1741 à Louise d'Asquemye d'Aujac (fille de Jean-Baptiste seigneur d'Aujac, de Mézères, etc, et de Claire de Mombrac). Leur petit-fils Scipion Gauthier de la Boulaye, habitant la Haute-Loire en 1848, était le frère de Céleste-Claire alliée à cette époque à Marcellin de Licques de Ferraignhe. A ce nom, on attribue un signe distinctif de noblesse représenté par le blason que l'on a reproduit ci-contre et qui confirme aussi à travers ses emblêmes, au point de vue historique et héraldique la certitude d'une valeur remarquable.
