There is a memory of an Ascanio, who was prefect of Nice on June 28, 1635, and of Federico, Gian Filippo, Filippo Emanuele and Giovanni Antonio, captains of militias in the seventeenth century. Giovanni Angelo, intendant and curator of the mortgages in Nice, was created Count of San Giuseppe on April 26, 1833, with transmissibility to his brother. At his death the title passed to his brother Carlo Giuseppe who was captain of the hunters of Nice, then taken service in Austria, he was commander of Piacenza. His son Hannibal, artillery officer, was the father of Luigi, general staff officer, major general, who was arrested in Nice for military espionage and sentenced by the Nice court on June 26, 1899, and immediately pardoned by the President of the French Republic on July 10th.
