Nella famiglia si innestò quella dei Bernardini della Massa, di Cesena, che si ritiene discendesse dai Tarlati di Arezzo, e che da Guiodobaldo Duca di Urbino fu investita del feudo della Massa in persona di Martino. Lucia Bernardini, moglie di Giulio Cesare de Medici, nel 1703 fondò una commenda nell'Ordine di S. Stefano a favore del primogenito di sua casa. Il conte Pirro, morto nel 1856, dalla contessa Laura Montani, ultima di sua casa, ebbe tre femmine.
