Da documenti dell'archivio comunale di Gemona si ricava che fra il 1568 e il 1569 si era domiciliato in quella grossa borgata dell'alto Friuli tal Bulfardo Gropler, figlio di Andrea, proveniente da S. Giorgio di Atergau nel Salisburghese agens benemeritus in ipasamet Clemona quamplurium dominorum mercatorum fontechi mag. Nationis Allemanae, e mercante lui stesso (sembra) in ferramenta. Fino dai tempi medioevali i mercanti tedeschi avevano ivi istituito un fondaco per le proprie merci, e ne avevano affidata la custodia e l'amministrazione al loro compatriota Bulfardo. Questi accasatosi con una nobile gemonese, fu accolto in vicino con delibera del Consiglio del 1 ottobre 1571.
