Familia procedente de Bretaña (Francia), a la que perteneció Francisco G., que en 1621 era Señor de Vergier. También fueron de la misma Jacques G., Señor de la Sauvagere en 1650, René G. de la Girandiere y Froincis G., Señor de Bosimarie. Créese que fué hermano de los anteriores caballeros Sieru Anthoine G., casado con Anne de la Porte, y ambos padres de Anne G. de la Porte, y Jean Baptiste Henry G. de la Porte, que sigue. Jean Baptiste Henry G. de la Porte, nació el 20 de Noviembre de 1678 en Saint Malo y fué bautizado el 23 del mismo mes en la iglesia parroquial de Antrain. Este caballero pasó a Amércia en 1711 con la escuadra francesa, comandada por el Almirante Rene du Guay Truin (también bretón, nacido en Saint Malo), y que se componía de 17 barcos, con los que puso asedio y rindió a Río de Janeiro el 23 de Septiembre del citado año de 1711. Rescatada la ciudad mediante el pago de 600.000 cruzados, hecho por los habitantes, una parte de la escuadra de la que figuraban las fragatas "La Concordia", y "Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación", al mando del Capitán de Navío Tomás Daniel de Pradel, primo hermano del Almirante, prosiguió viaje a los mares del Sud, visitando Buenos Aires y los puertos chilenos del Pacífico. El mencionado Capitán Pradel, se radicó en la ciudad de Concepción haciéndolo en Valpara íso Juan Bautista Enrique G., Francisco de la Orvelle, Mr. Lable, Mr. de L'Otelier y el Doctor Darrigrande, todos los cuales fundaron distinguidas familias chilenas. ...
