Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Théobald, fils de Loscoran, épouse Guenargant; Menguen, leur fils, seigneur de la Guerche en 998, père de Sylvestre, chancelier de Bretagne, veuf en 1076, mort en évêque de Rennes en 1096; Emme, arrière-petite-fille du précédent, épousa au commencement du XII siècle Juhaël de Châteaubriant, dont la branche s'est fondue en 1263 dans la maison de vicomtes de Beaumont, au Maine, puinés de Brienne; Thibaud, évêque de Dol mort en 1301. Le château de la Guerche passa ensuite auc Chamaillart, puis aux Valois, comtes d'Alençon, qui le vendirent au connétable du Guesclin. Les héritiers de celui-ci le vendirent à leur tour au duc Jean IV, qui le laissa à sa fille, épouses du duc d'Alençon, tué à la bataille d'Azincourt en 1415. Il passa ensuite par alliance aux Montferrat, et successivament depuis aux Gonzague, princes de Mantoue, aux Cossé-Brissac, et aux ducs de Neuville de Villeroi. Autre branche de cette famille: Marquise, fille Simon, dame de la Guerche, épouse vers 1258 Hugues de la Musse. De cette famille la seigneurie de la Guerche a passé aux Tournemine, la Touche, Venier et en 1625 de Bruc, en faveur desquels, elle a été érigée en marquisat, en 1682. La branche du Pezle fondue en 1499 dans Louer. Le seigneur de Kercado, paroisse d'Herbignac, déboute à la réformation de 1668. ...
