Cette famille est d'origine chevaleresque. Albert du Bois prétend que le château d'Iserand était antérieur aux Croisades. La seigneurie d'Iserand s'étendait sur les paroisses de Lemps, Vion. Sacheras; et les lieux de Crémollière et de la Théoullière ou Térisière en partie. Iserand appartenait en 1617 aux Tournon; il passa en 1644 aux Lévis-Ventadour, puis aux Rohan-Soubise, et fut enfin vendu avec les seigneuries d'Arras et de Plats, le 1 juillet 1785, par Charles de Rohan, pour le prix global de 80,000 livres, au vicomte de Monteils, sénéchal d'épée du haut et bas Vivarais. Une confiscation féodale, dont la date et les motifs sont inconnus aurait fait passer Iserand aux mains des seigneurs de Tournon dès le XIVème siècle. La branche aînée de la famille aurait alors émigré en Dauphiné où elle serait représentée par les Iserand du Mouchet, de Sénaud et du Mollard; les Iserand restés en Vivarais ne seraient que des branches cadettes. Rivoire de La Bâtie, dans l'Armorial du Dauphiné, nous donne quelques intéressantes notes sur cette maison. Trois branches de la famille d'Iserand étaient fixées, dès la fin du XIIIème siècle, dans les environs immédiats du mandement d'Iserand. C'étaient les Iserand, coseigneurs de Sarras, les Iserand, seigneurs de Chavannes, en la paroisse de sainte-Jeure-d'Ay, et les Iserand, seigneurs de Chanelosc et coseigneurs d'Ay. Un rameau de celle-ci posséda au XVème siècle de Montiver, paroisse de saint-André-des-Effangeas, qui passa d'elle à la famille de Montagner. ...
