Antique chevalerie possessionnée près de Riom, sur les limites de l'Auvergne et du Bourbonnais. On trouve son nom diversement écrit Jozerand et Joserand. Elle compte parmi ses membres les seigneurs de Barreyrat, de Bayet, d'Estroussat, etc. Parmi les personnages les plus marquants on signale: Hugues, chanoine-comte de Brioude (1140); Guillaume, chanoine du même chapitre (1200). Un abbé de Montpeyroux (1206). Perrin seigneur de Joserand, damoiseau, rendit hommage en 1286 au sire de Bourbon, pour des fiefs sis en Bourbonnais. Cette maison s'éteignit peu après. Le seigneur de Jozerand, inscrit sous ce nom à l'armorial d'Auvergne de 1450, appartenait à la maison de la Queuille et portait parti de la Queuille et de Jozerand.
